Nearly $1 million awarded to study genetic causes of Schizophrenia

Researchers from the Centre for Genetic Origins of Health and Disease, the Centre for Clinical Research in Neuropsychiatry and the Neuropsychiatric Epidemiology Research Unit have been awarded $960,312 from the NHMRC to study the genetic causes of schizophrenia in families from Western Australia. The project will use cutting edge technology to examine the whole genome sequence from these families with the aim of uncovering rare genetic variants associated with this disabling disorder.
