Guicheng (Brad) Zhang - Associate Professor, Curtin University
Dr Guicheng Zhang (PhD) is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health (SoPH) at Curtin University. He is also an adjunct associate professor in the School of Paediatrics and Child Health (SPACH) at the University of Western Australia and an honorary research fellow of the Telethon Kids Institute (TKI). Currently he is leading a research team at GOHaD with a main focus on investigating the effect of environmental, genetic and epigenetic factors, as well as the interactive effects of these factors, on the development of chronic diseases including asthma and allergy. Since 2012 he has initiated research projects on Chinese immigrants to investigate the environmental influence on the development of asthma and allergy. Chinese immigrants represent a unique population for investigating the mechanisms of asthma and allergy as well as other chronic diseases and conditions, such as obesity and diabetes, that show significant prevalence gradients between Western and Eastern countries.
