Doctor Nina McCarthy - Research Fellow
Following my undergraduate degree in molecular genetics, I became interesting in statistical genetics and completed my PhD on the genetic epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in Dublin in 2012. I moved to the centre for the Genetic Origins of Health and Disease to begin a postdoc same year, where I have been involved in a number of projects investigating the genetics and epigenetics of common, complex disease. I am particularly involved in looking at the genetics of psychiatric disorders in the Western Australian Family Study of Schizophrenia, in collaboration with the UWA Centre for Clinical Research in Neuropsychiatry.
